I know that some of the nine faithful readers of this blog are familiar with the country called Slovenia (either by birth or adoption), but not everyone is. This little Post-It of a post is for everyone who isn’t, but is curious about the place.
A recent article I wrote about Slovenia is online at the English-language Slovenia Life website (that’s an offshoot of the older Ljubljana Life magazine). It’s rather tourist-guidish on the whole (appropriate considering the audience), but I purposely included material on some of the lesser-known cities and areas in Slo, such as Celje, Maribor, Ptuj and Prekmurje, since most travel writers who go there seemingly don’t bother to visit places east of Ljubljana.
I’ve written for Ljubljana Life on several occasions both during and after my own life in Ljubljana. One of my favorite pieces for them is the one I wrote about Idrija. If you’ve never heard of Idrija, you should know about it. And probably go there. It wouldn’t hurt.
